Natural Stone FlooringWhether you've got limestone, marble, slate, travertine, sandstone, granite or a combination, we can clean, restore or maintain your flooring. How do we do it? It depends on what you have. Therefore, the first step is always the same, identification. After testing your stone, we'll explain exactly how we can care for your investment & what's involved. This normally comes down to four basic steps.
1, Grinding may be required if the floor is uneven or damaged in some way. After grinding, the floor will be level & free from scratches. 2, Honing a floor involves just water & abrasives, so it's also environmentally friendly. We often use this if a natural finish is preffered. 3, Polishing brings stone to life. Depending on the floor, we do this wet or dry, controlling the finish from a soft sheen to a mirror gloss. 4, Sealing protects stone against water & oil based spills & make cleaning easier. However, they won't protect from scratches or wear. |
Wood FlooringFirst of all, we do not sand wood floors. The dust makes me itch! Also, every time you sand your floor, a layer of it is removed, & with subsequent sanding, the life of the floor can be reduced. Rather, we clean & resurface wood flooring using less aggressive methods.
First we must establish the existing finish, is it lacquered or oiled? Don't worry if you don't know, because we'll test it when we come. If your floor is oiled, then that's how we'll re-finish it. To prepare it we will remove any old finish from the surface & treat deep scratches & heavily worn areas individually. Then we apply a coat of hard wax oil that leaves the floor looking beautiful again. Should your floor be lacquered, we use a non-sand system that etches the floor. We then apply your choice of matt or gloss finish. However, if all your floor requires is a deep clean & buff, or specific scratches or damage repaired, we can accommodate that as well. |
Man Made FlooringIf your floor isn't stone or wood, then it likely falls into one of the man made categories. These are 'tile' or 'sheet' flooring products.
Tile & grout cleaning can be quite tricky for house holders as tile requires a different cleaning method to grout. Also, grout is often porous & lower than the tile, making it difficult to clean well. The solution? Us, we use a variety of cleaning methods at the same time. That way we can clean both the tile & the grout. This leaves them clean & fresh. We can even seal the grout & cut down on re-soiling. There are too many 'sheet' products to list. Ones like Amtico, Karndean & Linoleum can be so lifelike, they're difficult to tell from the real thing. There are other man made floor coverings like safety flooring & rubber. We clean each floor covering according to the manufacturers guidelines. We also apply topical protectors, so they last longer & continue looking great. Please call for a quotation. |
